Active CMAs must collect CPLD learning credits annually (minimum 30 credits per year) by
participating in professional development activities divided in six categories for tracking purposes.
Each CPLD category is assigned a unit of measure. The categories are:
1. Coursework with a final grade (One hour = one credit) Maximum of 40 credits per year
2. Coursework without a final grade (One hour = one credit) Maximum of 30 credits per year
3. Informal learning event (One hour = one credit) Maximum of 30 credits per year
4. Reading or research (One hour = 0.5 credit) Maximum of 30 credits per year
5. Volunteer and community leadership (One hour = 1.5 credit) Maximum of 25 credits per year
6. Formal teaching and writing (Credits vary per activity) Maximum of 30 credits per year for
